This isn't anything magical or mysterious, this is plain-jane nylon tape to adhere to a rip or hole in a tent, sleeping bag, jacket, etc. and repair it. This company has been producing this item for a long time, it works, it does what it is supposed to, and granted it doesn't come in a bunch of different colors, but that's just the way it is? I really am not particular about the color, although I am glad its not some obnoxiously neon bright color! I bought the tape this time to repair some "rub" holes in one of my tents where the frame apparently rubbed on the tent fabric until it left some small holes. It fixed them, and everyone is happy! I've bought this tape in the past, and its never failed to do the job. When you have annoying boyfriends that leave glass jars of peanuts in your tent and a pack of wild, aggressive black squirrels eat holes in the tent to get to cette jar, you need to do something to repair the holes. I own a Eureka Sunrise 11 and when I called the Binghamton, NY, company to ask what to do, they immediately suggested this Kenyon tape. Central NY doesn't sell it (that I know of), so I bought it online. Ya, shipping stinks, but I cut rounded patches out like the directions suggested, and carefully placed it over the hole. I did the same to the back, then used seam sealer to seal the edges. Went camping in rainstormy weather, and was dry as could be. Awesome stuff, would buy again, and I love the fact that it adheres to the tent.**Side note: if you don't carefully place the patch onto whatever hole you're trying to close up, little puckers in the side of the tape appear and I would assume rain would definitely seep in there. My one friend and I went camping a month ago with our 3 dogs, and her newfoundland pup (all 120 pounds of him) made a doggie door for himself in the side of the tent! Needless to say, we had to sleep with a gaping hole in our tent, but when we got home, I ordered the Kenyon tape and it did a nice job on the dog-made door. The only negative thing I can say about it is that there's just not enough tape in a packet to mend a tear like that--I have to order another packet to completely seal the tear! But the tape works wonderfully and it really sticks!! |
